По ссылке [livejournal.com profile] murzita попала на сайт http://www.framery.com - картины со сценами The Civil War: настоящая машина времени, поразительная смесь старинных открыток, иллюстраций к Жюль Верну и журнала "Корея сегодня":

Mort Kunstler

THE PALACE BAR

MAGNOLIA MORNING
Guests depart Arlington Plantation, Providence, La., the morning after the secession ball. April 7, 1861

AFTER THE SNOW
Winchester, Va., Jan. 6, 1862.

Батальных сцен там, конечно, больше... Но меня особенно привлекают не бои, а вот такое:

BLESSING OF THE SWORD
A farewell ceremony for a departing warrior.

REMEMBER ME
A farewell scene in Fredericksburg, Va.

JULIA
Stonewall Jackson's first visit with his daughter.

CHANGING OF THE PICKETS
2001 Snow Scene
Fredericksburg, Va., December 1862

THE FAIRFAX RAID
Lt. John Mosby takes a Federal general prisoner on one of his famous raids, Mar. 9, 1863.

GODS AND GENERALS
Antietam Campaign, Leesburg, Va. Sept. 5, 1862

MODEL PARTNERSHIP
Lee and Jackson, winter of 1863.

А все-таки лица у них... пошлое какое-то слово "благородные". А как сказать?
Не такие какие-то лица.

Mort Kunstler is considered America’s foremost historical artist. The thorough research he applies to his subjects in evident is such works as "The High Water Mark," unveiled at the Gettysburg Battlefield Museum in July 2, 1988 in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the battle and considered the most accurate and exciting painting ever done of the event.

Today, Kunstler concentrates his focus exclusively on Civil War paintings, but there is probably no other artist who has recorded so many events in the history of America, and certainly no one has done so with such extraordinary authenticity and drama.
